Aite is located in Palomino, which is a town of Dibulla in the department of La Guajira and is only 2 meters above sea level. The palomino village is a picturesque place that since the early 70s has attracted tourists from all around the world. In Palomino, you can shop for hand made crafts from the 3 most know tribes Kogie, Wuayu or Arhuaco such as mochilas and hamacs among others.
Palomino has a tropical climate with temperatures averaging 24 degrees Celsius (75.2 F). The Palomino River marks the border between the departments of La Guajira and Magdalena.
Transportation can be arranged to the beaches of Santa Marta, Taganga, Bahia Concha and Neguanje among others. There are also companies offering trips to Cabo de La Vela y la Serrania de la Macuira up deep in the dessert.
It is an ideal setting to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding, family or company event.
Simply relax and enjoy the ocean or the pool. Beach chairs, beds and hammocks are put out daily for your enjoyment. Beach and pool towels are also provided. A beach kiosk provides a menu of soft drinks, cocktails and fresh coconut water.
A net is up on the beach on the left side of the pool and balls are left by the bar. Please request help at reception and we will make sure to get them to you.
There is a soccer field at Aite. Please inquire at reception or at the pool bar for the location and the balls.
You can try your luck at the lake located at the bottom of the hill from where you enter the hotel. Inquire at reception about the fishing poles.
Kayak rentals are available. Please inquire at the reception for times and prices.
WALK TO THE SAN SALVADOR RIVER
From Aite, walk alongside the beach for .7 miles or 1 km to the San Salvador River, a beautiful pristine river that flows into the ocean and provides an exciting swimming experience. Half way to the river you will encounter a large pond which is a natural habitat for babillas (small alligators). While this body of water may look like the river, it is not. Please do not swim and continue until you reach the river.
HIKING AT THE CONSERVATION RANCH
There is a trail at the ranch where you can go up to the mountain and look the ocean from up above. It is a very nice trail with huge trees that are hundreds of years old. Inquire with the reception for a guide and transportation to the ranch ( about 5 min in motorcycle, taxi or the Torito).

MASSAGE AT THE BEACH HUT
Enjoy outdoor single or couples massage at the beach hut. Please inquire with the reception (deep tissue and relaxation massages of 60 or 90 min are available).
The receptionist can arrange a private or group classes on site. We also have classes schedule two times a week at 7:30 am please inquire at the reception current schedules and prices.
This activity is available at the cattle ranch nearby. (For experienced riders only not for beginners). They can arrange for it at the reception.

This beautiful Natural park is located within a 40 minute-drive from Aite. And we recommend it as a day trip destination where to hike nice trails and swim. If you are feeling more adventurous, arrange to be dropped of at the park’s main entrance. From there, you can go hike to Pueblito and then to the pool (about 6 to 8 hours hike).

You will be picked up at the hotel in a vehicle and taken to the entrance of the Mendihuaca River where the deep body of water is located. Once there you will walk about 15 minute to beautiful Pozo (lacuna) where you can swim in crystal water and cliff dive.
TUBING DOWN THE DON DIEGO RIVER
You will be picked up at the hotel in a vehicle and taken to the Don Diego River (where some of the scenes of the famous movie “The Mission” were filmed). Once there, you will be taken up on boats and float down.
Choose the regular route which will take you back to the bridge or request the full tour to go all the way to where the river meets the ocean, a beautiful place full of birds. You can get to see hollow monkeys when going down the river.
VISIT A KOGIE VILLAGE WITH MULKUABI
There are small Kogi towns at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. We can arrange for it at the reception. Please reserve at least 48 hours in advance since permits have to be obtained.
You will drive to Camarones an small fishing village from where you will take a small boat to a bay where you can spot the flamingos. The best time for this activity is January, June and December, when you will see hundreds of flamingos.
TUBING DOWN THE PALOMINO RIVER
You will get picked up in a motorcycle and taken into town from where your hike begins. You will hike up a hill for about 40 minutes and then tube down the river. For a longer experience, go all the way to the river mouth and walk back to the hotel by the beach (1.5 km).
CABO DE LA VELA
It is located up north in la Guajira and you can go for the day but it takes 12 to 14 hours to be done in a day. You drive in the middle of the dessert until you reach the ocean. Pilon de Azucar is a beautiful beach up there.
VALENCIA CREEK CASCADES
These beautiful waterfalls can be reached by a 30-minute drive followed by a beautiful 45-minute easy hike.
